Hi everyone, I was a pupil at Shenstone in the very early 80's, have some great memories, especially Mr Finney dragging us all to the top of Snowdon, its great to see from the pictures that he is still keeping up the good work, i'm still the best of friends with Hilary, whom I met there, we had some great times making up dances to the songs from Grease and making everyone watch them in assembly. Keep up the good work guys, lots of love xxx

10 May 2007 00:00:00
Hello, my name is Tony and I have just come across the school's web site whilst idly browsing.I began my time at the Lodge way back in 1962. And yes it seems a lifetime away. The headmaster and his wife at that the time were Ron and Vera Latcham and a great inspiration to all. The deputy Head was Reg Lambert. The cook was Mrs. Myatt, who was brilliant and prepared a great deal of our meals using produce grown in the school garden, of which was tended by her husband, and who was also the caretaker. So really we were eating a good deal of organic vegetables. In those days, there were of cause no computers, mobile phones or anything like MP3 players etc. Apart from the time we spent daily in the classroom, our leisure activities were swimming in the outdoor pool during the warm months, camping within the school's extensive ground, climbing trees, or scrumping apples and pears from the lower orchard. Apart from that, many of us were keen on chess and we had a chap come into the school once a month to show us a black & white film. The one that stick in my mind was Jason & the Argonaughts. I enjoyed my time at the Lodge; the staffs were extremely responsive to our needs and helped us to lead a happy life there. In 1965 however, a number of us where moved on to the newly build school known as Whittington Grange. Unfortunately I believe the Grange has now been demolished to make way for a new housing development. I hope anyone reading this short précis of my time at the school finds it interesting interesting, although it was such a long time ago. Best regards Tony.

Hello all at shenstone, I am a ex-pupil from 1967-1973 It is nice to see the good work is still going on affter all these years, I was one of the boys who went on to whittington Grange where the work that was started at shenstone went on. My time at shenstone was on the whole very happy, and the memory of my time there leaves me with a warm smile. Thank you for the web site so those of us from shenstone's past can relive our time there, and for those of the future, a glimpse of the life changing improvment shenstone offers to all that walk through the door. Do you still have the big oak stair case? ( I spent a lot of time sat on them for being cheaky) Please keep up your good work Michael James

I was at Shenstone between the years of 1972 and 1975 must admit it was a mixed time, but I do believe I came away from Shenstone with a different but better perspective on life. The teachers I can remember are Mr and Mrs Hayton, Miss Morgan Miss Leblique ( think its spelt that way) Mr Bailey spent a few weekends at home with him at times ...Mr and Mrs Brindley the head teachers... well lets see what I can remember spent a year or so in the 'Inner Sanctum' as it was called is it still the same. Seeing the picture has brought back some very fond memories.. the dinnig hall is still the same .. in the time that I was there there were cars all over the place .. I presume it wont be like that now health and safety and all that.. I can see the tree just outside in the courtyard there was a bench underneath spent some time lying on that looking at the stars at night... and also playing football with the lights on .. I have been trying to locate one person hope anyone can help her name is Edwina Duffield... what am I doing now I am working for IBM and enjoy teaching/training new people I have always thought of visiting .. sharing my memories with people who are already there .. in essence I am a part of the schools history and I would appreciate the opportunity to share my experiences with both the staff and children it will be like going back in time .. I can still see things as they were .. well goodluck and keep up the good work .. the school will always have a special place with me ...

Martin Gillard
06 August 2006 00:00:00
Martin Gillard /ex pupil now living in North Wales, Great to see the old school is still going was their between 1955 to 1959, it was a mixed school then, girls stayed there sometimes to the age of 14 or even to 15. But the majority of the pupils were boys. The outdoor pool was built during my stay, The headmaster at the time was Mr.Windsor and remember another teacher was Mr. Latcham and the gardeners were Mr Miate and Mr Frostman.

We went on a school trip to Wales too, once to Barmouth for a day trip! And the another time to Duffryn Ardudwy were we stayed for several days, the campsite being near to the station, while there got bitten by the steam railway bug and at the site of the GWR Dukedogs, Manors etc was totally hooked and have been a active steam railway enthusiast ever since! (Being a member of the Llangollen railway) While there we visited Harlech castle. The old van then was a commar I think which we called Nelly, I remember we pilled in long before the seat belt laws came in force. We did mystery tours were each pupil would be asked what to do at each road junction, weather to turn left of right or go strait on, in ether ably we end up going around in circles!

Hi Im anthony perkins and i am an ex-puple of shenstone lodge but i only remember 2 members of staff that are there now which are mr nick langcaster and mr steve finney so i would like to say hello and how are you both?.Mr Anthony haton was the headmaster when i attended in 1984 till 1989 or 1990.Its nice to see that Jane still has the farm up the road which Mr Finney used to take us up to, to help out sometimes at weekends.I wonder if you still have the outdoor swimming pool?.Well im now working as a TaeKwonDo instructor at ECMA in Nottingham and i'd really like to thank Mr Steve finney for the holidays or camping trips to wales and snowdan.they where brill. nice to finally find the school web site. anthony perkins.

I looked you up to get a better idea of what your school was like, I'm currently supporting parents in looking for a school for their child who is on the Autistic Spectrum. I found your site really useful and informative, it gave me a real feel for what your school must be like.

Daniel, thanks for your entry in our guestbook. I've had to edit your email a little bit as you mentioned your cousin's name and we can't put our pupils' names on the website. If you look at the recent updates in our News section you may just see a photo of your cousin now though! :o)
